The Digital Inclusion also known as e-inclusion. It is "referring to specific policies, is the term used within the European Union to encompass activities related to the achievement of an inclusive information society. In this vein, new developments in technology turns the risk of a digital divide into "digital cohesion" and opportunity, bringing the benefit of the Internet and related technology into all segments of the population, including people who are disadvantaged due to education (a specific subset called e-Competences), age (called e-Ageing), gender, disabilities (called e-Accessibility), ethnicity, and/or those living in remote regions (subject to the geographical digital divide)"as defined by wikipedia.
While these policies are ongoing in Europe and they will soon be hosting the 5th National Digital Inclusion Conference at the Vinopolis Conference Center, in the United States, we are hardly hearing the terminology let alone the issues.
The Digital Inclusion company is set up in the Western United States and has been founded to "Unlock the door for seniors to services, communication and community worldwide. " We teach computer skills to adults in their home. Currently,80 million Americans adults are not online, and only 30% of individuals 65 and older are online.
In the long run we wish to shape Digital Inclusion policies, and partner with organizations to close the digital divide, due to age, education, and socioeconomic status.
